Trent

Sunday, 17 October 2021 – DUMPED WITH NO ESCAPE

This poor boy was abandoned and tied to a lamp post on the Trent and Mersey Canal. We have named him Trent.

He was extremely thin and very dirty. His toenails had grown into his feet, he had his first operation on his feet, as the infection was so severe. One toe had to come off as the spread of infection had gone too far into the bone. We would have liked to have had his eyes done at the same time, but the condition of his body was so bad, the vet felt he would not survive surgery if under anaesthesia for any longer than necessary, plus he needed to gain about 8kg to get some fat behind the eyes to make sure the eye ops would be a success. As you can see from the photographs, he is in agony, poor boy, he can hardly see.

Trent has had a bath and is on 4 small meals a day. He has obviously not lived in a house before or had a comfy bed, as he has many pressure sores and wasn't house trained, he is now! He LOVES his bed. Trent is terrified of any noise and people. Someone owned this dog and watched him suffer in agony for a very long time. His road to recovery has started with Daneline.

Saturday, 23 October 2021

This is an update on our dear boy Trent or Diego. We have found out from his microchip his real name and date of birth 29-10-17. The R.S.P.C.A were unable to find his owner. For the first time today, he came home from his walk and jumped around playing like a puppy on springs! Trent can just open his eyes now the dreadful infection has started to clear. He has antibiotic cream 3 times a day in both eyes. Roll on the day he can have his eye operations. He has put on 2.8 kgs this week. He loves his food and has been known to take out the contents of the rubbish bin, this has now been removed. Trent adores his bed, but still curls up into a small ball, almost as if he is trying to hide. He is still very scared of humans and any loud noises. We are sure given a few weeks he will start to feel settled and enjoy life and learn to trust again. We have a long way to go, but Trent is moving in the right direction. His foster dad sleeps downstairs every night with him to help him from feeling abandoned. More news will follow. A HUGE thank you for your wonderful support xxxxxx
